We cover the stories, interviews, fashion, and happenings behind today’s places for water + heat + people.
Sweat Temples is a gregarious celebration of all things tied to the soak, the sweat, and bathing society’s comeback in American culture. With a focus on aquatic self-care, rituals for a social scene that hinge on being unplugged together, and the sensuous immersion of our bodies and minds in water. When we go to a bar we are expected to drink. When we’re at a coffee shop we’re expected to get caffeinated. But in a sweat temple, we just are. It’s the rare experience that allows us to actively… do nothing.
Sweat Temples. The gorgeous places we go to shift gear and put the focus on our body, not our mind; the humble saunas we return to for a seat on the bench; the opulent bathhouses we discover when traveling, where we explore another culture’s take on the primal practice of gathering around heat, in water, and with other people.
